Toppers are 3+" thick* initially. They are often referred to as feeling like laying "on a cloud." We agree! They provide a billowy, "cushy", and healthy layer under your skin. Cherished for their temperature regulation and cradling pressure points.
Topper Plus is approximately 3.5-4" thick* throughout initially with 1.66 times the wool as in a Topper. It is ideal for those who want added layers of thickness and loft in their topper, creating even more volume and luxurious cushioning under your body. Shikibutons are approximately 4.5-5" thick* initially, containing 2.25 times the wool as a Topper. Shikibutons are often used alone as a sleep mat (mattress). Since they are filled to a denser volume, they will feel more bodied, full, than a mattress Topper. Shikibutons can have a standard edge or a 1/4" piping edge ($+45) |

Wool fibers, like all natural fibers, will compress about 30% over time and use, depending on the product. They remain cushy and resilient always!
Regular turning and flipping of Toppers & Shikibutons is recommended in the first weeks, and then every few months after, to assist with even compression and comfort.
For cleaning: Lay out your wool products in the bright sunlight seasonally, to let the sun do its natural sanitizing work. You can also spot clean your Wool-Filled Products by gently hand washing any areas needed with mild soap and water. Do not immerse in water or use any machines to clean.
Wool products are often life long products, LASTING DECADES! The Wool inside can be washed and recarded by a wool mill to a near new fluffy state.
We are here to help you with that process when needed. The average customer does that every 7-10 years or so. New wool can also be purchased to add to wool products.

The Artisan's Process!

1. Layers of washed, carded and combed (fluffed and separated) wool is rolled out to the dimensions needed. Twin, Full, Queen, or King sizes, or custom.

2. Wrap up the wool in a natural premium quality cotton casing that pulls in the layers to a lofty 4.5-5" thick before tufting! The case has zippers and four elastic straps in the corners on Toppers.

3. Hand tuft. This pulls wool down to an overall thickness of 3-3.5" in its initial product state. The tufts are placed approximately 8" apart on the diagonal, ensuring the wool will not shift or clump.
